Medical disclaimer

Everything on Nutriveda – encyclopedia entries, recipes, guides, emails and social posts – is general information about food and nutrition. It is not medical advice, and it is not a diagnosis or a treatment plan for anyone.

Not a substitute for your doctor

Nutriveda is written by an editorial team led by Nikola (Precision Nutrition Level 1). None of the team is a medical doctor, dietitian or pharmacist. Talk to a qualified health professional before you change your diet, start a supplement or stop a treatment, and do not delay seeing one because of something you read here.

Check first if this applies to you

  • You are pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • You take prescription medication. Some foods and supplements interact with medicines – for example, foods rich in vitamin K with blood thinners such as warfarin.
  • You live with a chronic condition, such as diabetes, kidney disease, a heart condition or a digestive disorder.
  • You have a food allergy or intolerance.
  • You are planning a fast, a very low calorie diet or any big change in what you eat.
  • The advice is for a child or an older relative.

Numbers and studies

Nutrition values are averages from USDA FoodData Central. The food on your plate can differ by variety, season, storage and cooking. Daily reference values from EFSA are set for healthy adults and are not personal targets. Studies are summarised as fairly as we can, but research changes, and a single study rarely settles a question. How we choose and check sources is on Sources and methods.

Supplements

Food supplements are not medicines. Entries about supplements describe what the evidence and the EU authorised health claims say; they do not recommend a dose for you. Affiliate links in those entries are always labelled.

In an emergency

If you think you are having a medical emergency, call your local emergency number (112 in the EU) right away.

If you spot an error, please tell us through the contact page. More about who we are: About.
